Too much of vitamins and minerals is harmful - Health-Teachers

Regular use of high doses of vitamin supplements increases the risk of liver damage and birth defects. Beta-carotene is used to make vitamin A. It can also increase the risk of lung cancer in smokers. Beta-carotene is an antioxidant and also strengthens the immune system.

It is clearly beneficial against lung cancer. People who have quit smoking and add these vitamins directly to their diet through fruits and vegetables. Orange fruits and vegetables contain high levels of beta-carotene, but when some smokers are fed large amounts of these fruits and vegetables, their risk of developing lung cancer increases.

The same is true of other organisms, the use of which can pose a serious health risk if the daily recommended food standard is exceeded. Excessive amounts of niacin, also commonly known as nicotinic acid or vitamin B3, may increase the risk of liver damage, especially in pregnant women who use large amounts of their birth defects.

Most people think that vitamins and minerals are healthy, so using them in large quantities will be beneficial. But according to Dr. J. Michael McGinnis, head of the research group, high levels of certain vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A and iron, can be extremely dangerous, while other vitamins and minerals can be extremely dangerous. Excess amounts are excreted in the body by the urinary tract.
