The reason for the increase in the number of hearing-impaired people in developing countries, including Pakistan, is noise pollution, without controlling it, we cannot reduce the number of hearing-impaired people.
One billion people are going to suffer from hearing problems, said these things on World Hearing Day in separate seminars organized by Dow University of Health Sciences at Dow International Medical College Ojha Campus and Rath Pau Civil Hospital Karachi.
Dr. Salman Mutiullah, Dr. Salman Ahmed, Dr. Murtaza Ahsan, Prof. Atif Hafeez Siddiqui, and Prof. Usaf Ahmed addressed the seminar in Ojha Campus OPD block while Medical Superintendent Dr. Noor Muhammad Soomro, Dow in ENT Ward of Civil Hospital. Medical College Principal Prof. Saba Sohail and ENT Ward Head Prof. Ziba Ahmed also spoke.
Experts said that due to the global epidemic of Corona, the number of people working online at home has increased rapidly. As a result, there is concern that people who work online may often suffer from hearing problems.
Experts have advised those who work online to take a 10-minute break after every hour of work.
While listening to a hands-free microphone, the attention can be diverted to another direction, while with a hands-free microphone, the entire attention remains on one side and there is continuous pressure on the hearing and there is no break, said Professor Saba Sohail, Principal of Dow Medical College. There is a need for mass gatherings.
Civil Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Noor Mohammad Soomro said that hearing impaired children are not only treated but also trained in Civil Hospital.
